How to spawn trees in Roblox
A forest that grows around the player keeps a chopping or survival game going. The plugin clones your tree as a template, places copies at random sizes and makes new ones grow in near players over time.
The forest spawner prompt
Select the object in Studio first (or mention it with @), then send this. Change any words you like before sending.
Then keep talking to it
- 2Spawn more trees right away.
- 3Make trees regrow after 30 seconds.
- 4Add a growing animation.
What the AI builds
- A tree template in ServerStorage
- A ForestSpawner Script with a tree cap and spawn timer
- A grow-in tween using Model:ScaleTo
How it works
Each spawn picks a point around a player, raycasts down to find the ground and skips spots that are too close to another tree.
Scaled models do not have their pivot at the bottom, so the spawner aligns the bounding box bottom to the ground. That keeps trunks on the surface instead of half buried.
Models cannot be tweened directly, so the grow animation tweens a number value and calls ScaleTo every frame.
How to spawn trees in Roblox, step by step
- 1
Select a tree
Select the tree you want copied. The AI moves a copy into ServerStorage as the template and tags it BreakableTree, so spawned trees work with breakable trees and the axe. If there is no tree yet, it builds a simple one.
- 2
Fill the map
In the same prompt the AI can place 30 to 60 trees while you are editing, each with a random size between 70% and 150% and a random rotation. Every tree is set on the ground by raycasting down and lining up the bottom of its bounding box.
- 3
Spawn near players
A server Script picks a random point 25 to 60 studs from a random player every 3 to 5 seconds, finds the ground and skips the spot if another tree is within 8 studs. A cap of around 80 trees keeps the map light.
- 4
Watch them grow
New trees start at a tiny scale and grow to their target size with a smooth tween. Models cannot be tweened directly, so the script tweens a number and calls ScaleTo as it changes.
- 5
Respawn chopped trees
When a tree breaks, a new one appears near the old spot after the respawn delay you choose. Ask "regrow after 30 seconds" and only that number changes.
Roblox forest spawner settings you can change
Change any of these by asking in plain words, or open the script and edit the value yourself. Each prompt is one undo step, so you can try a value and go back.
- MAX_TREES
- Around 80. Lower it for games that run on phones.
- Spawn distance
- 25 to 60 studs from a player, so trees appear just out of reach rather than on top of someone.
- Spawn interval
- Every 3 to 5 seconds while the forest is below the cap.
- Size range
- 70% to 150% of the template's size. Ask for "more giant trees" to shift the range.
- RESPAWN_SECONDS
- How long a chopped tree takes to come back.
Fixing forest spawner in Roblox
Trees are half underground
This happens when a tree is moved straight to the raycast hit, because a model's pivot sits in its middle. The recipe lifts each tree until the bottom of its bounding box touches the ground; ask the AI to re-place existing trees with the same helper.
Trees float above the ground
The raycast can hit something above the ground, such as another tree's leaves. The helper ignores the tree being placed; ask the AI to also ignore other trees if your forest is dense.
The game slows down
Lower the cap, or ask for trees with fewer parts. Spawning only happens near players, so empty parts of the map stay empty.
Trees spawn inside buildings
Ask the AI to skip spots near tagged buildings or outside a spawn area. It adds the check to the same spawner.
More forest spawner ideas to try
Once the basic version works, send one of these as your next prompt. Each builds on what is already in your place.
“Spawn three kinds of trees with different chances.”
Keeps several templates in ServerStorage and picks one by weight each time a tree spawns.
“Keep trees out of the spawn area.”
Adds a check that skips points within a radius of your SpawnLocation.
“Make bigger trees rarer.”
Changes the random size from a flat range to one that favors small and medium trees.
“Add bushes between the trees.”
Uses the same placement helper for a bush model, so bushes also sit on the ground instead of floating.
Where it goes in Explorer
- ServerStorage / TreeTemplate (Model, tagged BreakableTree)
- ServerScriptService / ForestSpawner (Script) with MAX_TREES and RESPAWN_SECONDS at the top
- Workspace / Forest (Folder) holding the placed and spawned trees
Script names can differ a little; the AI names things to fit your game and tells you what it added.
Tips for a good prompt
Select the object first, or mention it with @, so the AI changes the right thing. Say what the player should see and feel, not how to script it: “the parts should fly a little and spin” works better than naming functions.
Ask for one change at a time and press Play in between. If something is off, describe what you saw, like “it only works once” or “the pieces go through the floor”. If a change goes the wrong way, press Ctrl+Z once and try different words.
Scripting it by hand vs. with AI
Writing a spawner by hand means a template in ServerStorage, a raycast helper that handles scaled models, distance checks against existing trees, a cap, a timer, a grow tween built on a NumberValue and a respawn hook. The ground alignment is the part most people get wrong first. The plugin uses a helper that was checked in Studio for scales from 0.6 to 1.6.
Before you start
You need Roblox Studio on Windows or macOS and the free Roblox AI Game Maker plugin, connected to your account with an 8 character code. New accounts get 2 credits and a free model you can use every day. A typical prompt on a cheap model costs a few hundredths of a credit, and the AI play-tests and fixes errors as part of the same build. Write in any language; the AI answers in the same one.
Forest spawner FAQ
Will it lag with many trees?
The spawner keeps a maximum tree count and only spawns near players. Ask for a lower cap if your game runs on phones.
Can it spawn rocks or bushes instead?
Yes. Select any model and ask the AI to spawn that instead, or several models with different chances.
